Spock Debuts Next Generation Search Focused On People.

Business Wire reports about Spock.com:

SAN FRANCISCO — Spock.com, a leading search application for discovering people, is one of six Launch Pad companies selected to demo at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco on Monday, April 16th, 2007. SPOCK will be announcing the launch of their invitation-only private Beta at the Expo.

Spock’s mission is to organize information around people and create a search result of everyone in the world. “30% of all internet searches are people related. We have created the most relevant, accurate, and largest search application focused on people,” said Jaideep Singh, CEO of SPOCK. “To date we have indexed over 100 million people representing over 1.5 billion data records. We plan to eventually index everyone in the world.”

Techcrunch’s Michael Arrington, who got an early peek at Spock, said: “In my testing, Spock did a great job of finding information about different kinds of people O but part of where Spock really shines is what they do after the search is completed. They are slowly indexing the entire web, focusing on important hubs of people information like blogs, wikipedia, photo sites and, of course, social networks.”

Spock was selected as one of the Launch Pad companies out of a pool of over 60 start-up companies.

Founded in 2006 by Jay Bhatti and Jaideep Singh, Spock is a search application that organizes information around people to enable discovery and learning.

With the vision of indexing everyone in the world, Spock is adding millions of people to its index everyday through Internet discovery and community contribution. Spock is located in Silicon Valley and funded by Clearstone Venture Partners and Opus Capital. To contact Spock, e-mail info@corp.spock.com.
